Press Release: Les Danseurs - Jean Beaudet - ER 0304

Proudly Present Les Danseurs

A new CD by the JEAN BEAUDET Trio

(elephant Records ER 0304)

Feturing Jean Beaudet on piano, Marc Lalonde on contrabass and Alain Bastien on drums.

JEAN BEAUDET is known in jazz circles as a multi dimensional piano player, a consumate musician. In his latest release "LES DANSEURS" on the Elephant Records label, true to form, both as player and composer, BEAUDET covers a lot of ground: from bop to funk to free jazz, and even a look at some of Duke Ellington’s sacred music in "Heaven". With the piano JEAN BEAUDET can be sensitively melodic and subbtle but be braced for some extraordinarily adventurous forays into uncharted rhythmic and harmonic territories. Make no mistake though this is a jazz album. JEAN has appeared at concerts and festivals around the world with his own group and others. He has been invited to play in New-York city and New-Orleans. He has played in France, England, Holland, Italy, Australia and New-Zealand. He has also toured accross Canada many times. JEAN BEAUDET is one of only a few Canadian pianists mentionned in the recent Oxford Companion To Jazz as a direct successor to both OSCAR PETERSON and PAUL BLEY. Many of Canada’s most eminent jazz critics have called JEAN BEAUDET one of this country’s finest virtuoso pianists. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
