The jazz label ELEPHANT RECORDS is proud to present the new eclectic and unique CD, BLACKFOOT, from jazz musician Martine Carrière.

It features a group of renowned musicians: the brilliant Jean Beaudet with his trio Zack Lober on stand up bass and Ugo Divito on drums. They are accompanied by the veteran Daniel Lessard on stand up bass and the exceptional musicians Chet Doxas on saxophone and Jean St-Jacques on vibraphones.

Since the mid-eighties MARTINE CARRIERE has developed a very sincere approach to music with which she interprets her own original compositions as well as her own arrangements of jazz classics.

BLACKFOOT is a musical universe of coloured emotions and transparency. Each piece is composed and arranged with uniqueness and maturity, and supported by the outstanding and generous performance of her musicians.

With this new CD BLACKFOOT, vocalist and composer MARTINE CARRIERE reveals the full extent of her voice through a variety of musical styles : from Swing to Bop, from modal music to Funk, with even a touch of Free Jazz. Featuring 3 original lyrics from Canadian writers, this CD is nothing but JAZZ!

MARTINE CARRIÈRE is passionate about piano, voice and composition, voice being her dedicated instrument. In the world of specialized music, Martine is considered a talented artist with a solid musical background. Her unique voice falls in no easy category. With technical brio, she has a very pure composition and interpretation style. Her incomparable intensity comes to life on stage thanks to her extensive experience with numerous musical groups, both performing in clubs and in concert halls.

She has played with renown musicians from Montréal, Québec and Canada: Daniel Lessard, Ron Séguin, André White, Dave Robbins, Frédérique Alarie, Jean Beaudet, Paul Léger, Jean-François Groulx, Normand Guilbault, Mathieu Bélanger, Adrian Vedady, Michel Lambert and Dave Turner, to name a few...

In 2005 MARTINE CARRIERE was recipient of a grant from the Canada Council to study with the famous Jazz legion from New York Sheila Jordan.
